Superficial wound infection

Sue or anyone else with remedies,

my son Jevan is prone to getting nasty infections when he gets a small cut. He's got one now, that was fine yesterday morning and by last night was red, inflamed, and pussy, its on the back of his knee from his bike pedal.

He had popped it and pushed some infection out and then came and got me. We cleaned it with Hydrogen peroxide and then put some booboo balm (comfrey, calendula, plantain) on it.  It is a bit better today but still not something I want to let go.

I've got a myriad of herbs I've been growing and drying and storing but for some reason I'm just not sure what to do. I've been thinking about steeping some Lavendar in hot water and soaking some cloth strips in it to wrap the wound?? I've got comfrey, calendula, yarrow, mullen, an echinacea tincture I made, dried echinacea, and more.

I'm seeking some guidance though. What is the best to use and in what format?

Last time a small wound on his back was suddenly black and pussy and very infected. We just went in to the clinic for that and they put him on a hardcore sulfur based antibiotic and were concerned that he might be prone to staph infections easily for some reason.

Thanks,

Melody

  • Hi Melody,

I would go out and collect plantain leaves.  It could be the narrow leaf or broad leaf.  Pick a lot and make a poultice with it.  Apply it every two hours.  You can treat him with echinacea tincture (heavy doses)  internally every few hours.   In-between you could use the lavender essential oil (make sure it is not a synthetic version).  I would  not use the balm for him, it is an open wound and using poultices will keep it clean.  The balm might hold bacteria in it.  When it closes  you can use your balm.  I have treated a recluse bite this way and it works great.   Be aggressive with treating it with the poultice.  You could even leave the plantain poultice on and tape it on for 30 minuets at a time.

Because he is prone to these infections I would look at his diet.  Something is off in his body because his body does not have the energy to take care of simple wounds.

Take these things out of his diet:

    Sugar in any form

limit fruit and push green veggies

    junk food

    Soy

    Canola

    peanuts

    corn

That is a great start right there
