Bone Soup For Bone Health

Bone Health - Essential for long term health of menopausal women - Preventive food medicine for all

Bone Broth is a kitchen tradition that has been lost.  It is rich in minerals (especially easily absorbed calcium), cartilage, marrow and gelatin.  Bone broth could be the answer to osteoporosis. It is a great recipe for supporting the structure of your cells.

This recipe uses a crock pot.  If you don't have one I recommend getting one.  They are very handy especially for busy lives.  Crockpots are a great way to have healthy food ready when you get home from work.

You need organic bones, if you have a local organic farmer this is the best way to get your bones.

Recipe:

Place organic beef bones into crockpot;  cover with water.

Add 1 whole organic apple

Add 1 whole organic garlic head (unpeeled).

Add 1 whole onion (unpeeled;  eliminate if feeding bones to dogs--onions ca be toxic to dogs).

Add 1 tablespoon organic apple cider vinegar

Add handful of organic celery tops

Cook on high for 12 hours

Let cool

Using a slotted spoon, remove veggies, apple, and bones.

Transfer broth to a large bowl, cover, and regrigerate until completely chilled.

Using a perforated skimmer, remove the layer of fat on top and discard (I use the discarded fat in my homemade tortillas).  Transfer remaining broth to airtight freezer containers.

Drink a cup a day

You can also use the broth in your favorite soup recipes
