Studying The Digestive System - Emotions

My thoughts on the health of our digestive systems.

ARE YOU DIGESTING LIFE: by Sue Sanders
The digestive system is interesting and complicated. It is full of winding paths, good bacteria (your friends) and bad bacteria (bad people). It has the good, the bad and the ugly.
Just like life…
And after you have a good dump, the world feels wonderful and you are at ease and ready for your day.
Our Digestive System is who we are in our lives.
The mouth is like a birth canal. It gives life from the nutrients we chew, it speaks, it has a voice, if the voice does not speak, the fire burns the path within us (acid reflux)
The esophagus, gives us our breath, it is the wind tunnel of life.
For some the nutrients of life get stuck, along life’s winding path, holding on, not letting go, anger, constipation, holding in negative emotions. For some the nutrients of life are let go too quickly, (not dealing with life).
For some the nutrients of life are breaking away and getting lost from their path, only absorbing life in little fragments and loosing life in little fragments with a feeling of not being complete, partial elimination, not living life fully.
Absorbing life part way is toxic to ourselves.
It is important to let loose, let go of what does not serve us, but not squirted away before it is healed, because then life will leave you dehydrated and thirsty.
Same is true with holding back, holding back, constipates one’s life, then life becomes a toxic cesspool, reliving toxic emotions over and over again will leave you stuck.
Too much fire burns your path, creating dark charred areas of fear, worry and hate, only to leave a burning hole in your insides.
Somewhere in your path, maintain that fire, keep it warm, otherwise, that hole grows bigger, darker and rage starts to consume your path eating up life inside you.
If the fire is being put out, then the nutrients of life are not being used. It is time to stoke up the fire and take steps into your life path.
The end of the winding path is a reminder that life is recycled.
Where there is an end there is always a beginning.
When you hold back at the end and leave things unfinished, you’ll be feeling the bumps of that life decision.
Sit back and relax.
Fear makes you hold on to tight.
No sweating over the small stuff or big for that matter.
Don’t worry, so life can be smooth.
Grow healthy bacteria, take care of your community and live life more fully.
Just let go and breathe
So you can poop out life with ease.

"The Way You Do Food Is The Way You Live Life"

Digestion

Welcome to Wild and Weedy Wellness.  You are about to take a journey down the  holistic health hike.    This journey will tease your senses, satisfy your taste buds, bring you new ideas and knowledge.

We  are starting our Wild and Weedy Wellness with items that aide your digestion.   It has been a long winter, a lot of heavy foods have been eaten and it is time to get things moving.

The digestive system is one of the most important systems in your body and I personally feel it is very abused.  This is why  Colon cancer is one of the highest cancers out there.

The digestive system  consist of many important organs for digestion, absorption, assimilation, distribution, and elimination.    It begins at your mouth and ends at your rectum.   So next time you think about eating something think about this.  Does the food your about to eat give your body what it needs?  Will your digestive system be able to digest it, absorb nutrients out of it, will it be able to assimilate nutrients out of it,  can it be distributed healthfully and can you eliminate it all the way comfortably?

It is time to start eating those spring greens, cut sugar out, start moving and start breathing.

Here are a few pointers to help you with your digestion.  After all this is your gas tank and what happens when you put bad gas in your car?

Take  a bitters extract.  Bitters stimulate bile production.  You can take them before or after meals.  I will also take them if I feel like I have heartburn.  I just put a few drops on my tongue or a few drops (10 plus) in a 1/8 cup of water swish in my mouth and swallow.

Bitters Information:

Eat bitter food, like fresh dandelion greens

Eat spring greens, cooked greens, lots of veggies and eat a vegetable rainbow

Limit your fruit intake and up your green veggie intake

Cut out sugar, cane sugar, brown sugar, high fructose corn syrup

Make sure your honey is real honey.

Shop at your local farmers market and purchase organic produce

Most people are not drinking enough water.  Drink filtered water or spring water.

Eat Slowly

Turn off all screens.  No cells, no computer, no movies etc...

Breath slowly while eating.  Take deep breaths.  When the blood lacks oxygen absorption decreases.

No late night eating.  Eat dinner by 7:00 pm or earlier.  If you are full with food when you go to bed then your body is working on digesting and not repairing and rejuvenating.

Drink relaxing teas to calm your nervous system down.

Don't overeat,  instead undereat slightly

Don't eat when unhappy

Think positive thoughts when you are eating

If you are constipated and you are having trouble going poo, don't try to force it out.  Relax drink some chamomile tea,  drink some water, take a walk, do some exercise, eat green veggies, cooked  veggies and big salads.   Let the poo come out when it is ready.

Bone Builders and Healthy Nerve Function

Calcium is well known for its role in building strong bones and teeth.  It is also essential for healthy nerve function.  If your body is getting enough calcium and absorbing it, it will prevent nervousness, irritability, muscle spasms, muscle cramping, hyperactivity, and insomnia.

Bones  need a good mix of essential minerals and fatty acids for healthy bone function. This includes plant-derived magnesium and silica as well as animal forms of saturated fat and the long-chain omega-3 fatty acids EPA & DHA.

The best forms of silica come from cucumbers, celery, horsetail, nettles, oat straw & alfalfa. Magnesium comes from many different sources including nuts, seeds, legumes and green vegetables. The best source of magnesium is raw, organic cacao and high quality dark chocolate.

Another powerful form of essential minerals is found in pink salts including Himalayan Sea Salt. These salts provide ideal mineral ratios for optimal absorption and usage in the body. Sea vegetables such as kelp, dulse and other forms of seaweed and sea algae like chlorella are also fantastic sources of bone-building nutrients.

The best forms of calcium and bone building nutrients come from leafy green vegetables and fermented, raw milk products from 100%-grass fed cows and goats. Pasteurized forms of milk and grain-fed animals provide inflammatory fatty-acids and other metabolites that promote calcium mineralization into arterioles.

http://www.tanplusforhealth.com/news/february/calcium_nn0112.htm

Raw cheese and fermented drinks from 100% grass-fed animals provide the perfect ratio of vitamin D3, K2, calcium, magnesium, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids and saturated fat. Raw cheese is perhaps the best bone building, cardio-protective food one could consume.

List of easily digestible forms of calcium foods:

Seaweed, raw cultured milk products, most dark-green leafy vegetables.  Such as, turnip greens, kale, beet greens, parsley, dandelion greens.

Herbs that are excellent sources of high quality calcium:

Amaranth, chickweed, dandelion greens horsetail, mustard greens, nettle, oats and watercress.

Foods That Lead To Bone Loss:

Processed and fast foods are the worst stuff you can put into your body. In order for your body to function optimally, it needs the type of balanced diet that I suggest in the next section.

Processed foods such as potato chips, french fries, microwaveable "meals", soda and candy contain very little nutrients and are chock full of undigestible fats and dangerous additives such as , high fructose corn syrup, aspartame, and preservatives.

When cooking, I advise you to avoid  omega-6 based oils such as corn, safflower or soy oil. These oils are loaded with highly processed, damaged omega 6 fats, which contribute to inflammation in your body. I would also advise you to avoid canola oil completely

Instead, I recommend using healtthy oils such as  olive oil ( use only for no heat recipes) ,coconut oil (can be used for cooking)  organic butter from grass fed cows ( if you can get raw butter that would be the best), avocados, raw nuts like almonds and pecans, organic unheated nut oils, pasture raised chicken eggs,

Vitamin D Deficiency:

There are alarming rates of people that are Vitamin D deficient.  Have your vitamin D checked by your doctor.  The optimal vitamin D level has been raised to 50-70 ng/ml

As you can see many foods are important to make sure you are feeding your bones, teeth and nervous system.

Remember, calcium needs other nutrients so you body will absorb it.  Here are the above foods that were listed, in a short form list.

Horsetail, nettles, oat straw, organic alfalfa, nuts, seeds, legumes, green leafy vegetables, raw organic cacao and high quality dark dark chocolate, fermented, raw milk products from 100%-grass fed cows and goats, seaweed, amaranth, chickweed, dandelion greens, horsetail, mustard greens, nettle, oats and watercress, cucumbers and celery.
