It Is Time To Stop How Much Plastic We Use

We are approaching one of our biggest consuming periods we have each year.   Black evil Friday and Christmas, I am asking you  to please watch this, and change how you purchase, eat and live.

I have changed a lot in my life, and I still have not changed enough.  I will work hard for the animals and people of this world.  I will set goals to consume less plastic in my life.

Just how bad do we have to let it get before we change.  I am fearful, that if we did not start now, it will to late.

A Silent Spring is approaching fast, in a run away train.  I do not know about you, but I want to stop this train.

Put a stop to purchasing water bottles, energy drinks, plastic cheap toys, plastic, 5 hour drinks, coffee lids, pop, plastic bags, plastic, plastic, plastic.... butter tubs,  plastic, plastic,

I think you got the point.  If we could all decrease our plastic consuming by half this could help

Knowledge Is Power, but you have to apply it.

Don't be like so many people on Facebook that watch these films and then put their comments down on how terrible this is, how said it is, and then do nothing.

The link below provides a short clip of a documentary that is coming out soon.  It combines the love that these animals show and the death that they are going through due to our plastic problem that we dump everywhere.

Infused Herbal Oil

Herbal infused oils can be used on their own or as a base for salves and ointments.   You can either make strong medicinal oils or sweet scented massage oils.   I like to use organic olive oil but you can use other good quality organic  oils, such as almond, apricot, coconut, sunflower, jojoba ( do not use soy or canola)

Solar Infused Oil:

Place the herbs and the oil in a glass jar, cover tightly.   Place the jar in a warm, sunny spot and let steep for 2- 3 weeks.  Strain the oil through cheesecloth or muslin.  When the oil has been poured off, put the herbs in the cheese cloth or muslin and wring thoroughly and squeeze all the oil you can get.  If you want a stronger oil, add a fresh batch of herbs to the oil and infuse for 2 more weeks.  Strain again.  This will give you a very potent medicinal oil.

Use of the solar infused method is the preferred method to extract all the healing benefits of the herbs.

Double Boiler Method:

Place the herbs and the oil in a double boiler and bring to a low simmer.  Slowly heat for 30 to 60 minutes, checking frequently to be sure the oil is not overheating (preferably between 80- 100 degrees Fahrenheit).  The lower the heat, the longer the infusion, the better the oil.

Turn off let sit a few hours, then repeat the above instructions.  Do this for a third time.

Strain, wring, squeeze, bottle and label.

Much care needs to be taken when creating herbal oils this way because you do not want to deep-fry your herbs! When placing herbs into a crock-pot, double boiler, or electric yogurt maker  cover with organic extra virgin olive oil (or other carrier oil of choice) leaving at least an inch or two of oil above the herbs.

Second Quick Option:

Gently heat the herbs over very low heat (preferably between 100 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) for 1-5 hours until the oil takes on the color and scent of the herb.  Some texts recommend heating the oil 48-72 hours at a controlled temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit.  Turn off heat and allow to cool. Once that the oil is ready, strain using cheesecloth, and bottle into dry and sterilized amber bottles for storage.  Store in a dark and cool place.

Crock Pot Method:

Place herbs and oils in crockpot and set on lowest possible heat. You will have to experiment with your own crockpot as the strength of the heating element can vary quite a bit, but as a general rule 2 to 4 hours will do it.  One of my crockpots  is just too hot for this method, so I do one hour and a few hours off.  I repeat this method for a few days.

Making A Salve:

Step one, prepare an infused oil following the above instructions.

Step two, to each cup of herbal oil, add 1/4 cup of beeswax.  Heat until the beeswax is completely melted.  To check for consistency, place 1 tablespoon of the mixture in the freezer for just a minute or two.  If it's too soft, add more beeswax, if too hard add more oil

Step three, remove from heat immediately and pour into small glass jars or tins.  Store any extra salve in a cool, dark place.  Stored properly, salve will last for months, even years.

Making Salves:

Compress

compress is made by soaking a cloth in an herbal tea for 5 to 10 minutes, wringing the cloth out and then laying it on the affected area.

Bring 2 quarts of water to a boil.

Add 1/2 ounce of dried herbs

Cover and steep 20 minutes.

Soak wash cloth in tea for 5 to 10 minutes.

Wring out cloth (you may need to let it cool in a separate bowl for a few minutes before wringing).

Place cloth on affected area and lie still for 20 minutes.

Repeat as needed for healing.

Do not reuse, if you are treating infection or open wounds!

Poultice

A poultice is mashed plant material applied directly to the body on the affected area or wrapped in thin cloth and then applied.

A poultice is similar to a compress, except that plant parts are used rather than liquid extraction. Dried herbs or fresh, if you are using fresh, mash or crush fresh plant parts.  Add herbs to a pot of boiling water turn off, put lid on and steep for 5 minutes . Apply the pulp directly to the skin, as hot as can be tolerated, holding it in place with a gauze bandage.

When making poultices from fresh plant material you can use the spit poultice method (simply chewing up the plant material and mixing it with your saliva) or add water and crush the plant material in a mortar and pestle or blender.

Apply directly to the wound and hold in place with a band-aid.

Poultices can also be wrapped in thin cloth and then applied to the skin.

Herbal Wash:

A wash is simply an herbal tea splashed on an affected area of the body.

Edible Wild Fir, Evergreen And Cedars

Side Note:  The Yew is not edible

Cedar Infused Oil

Place some needles into a mason jar one quarter full; add olive oil until all the needles are covered. Let infuse for 4 weeks (out of direct sunlight), then strain.  You can use this to make salad dressings or to cook with.

Nutrients in Coniferous Trees

Pine needles are loaded with vitamins A and C, and it doesn't end there. The vitamin C levels are so high (on average 5 times greater than lemons) who needs oranges!

  • Vitamin C is considered to be important in preventing cancer.
  • Pine oils, according to Russian studies,  lower cholesterol and aid in lowering the blood pressure.
  • Proanthocyanin and resveratrol are potent anti-aging compounds.

Making Coniferous Teas

It was once believed that vitamin C will be destroyed if extracted into boiling water – this is not true. Vitamin C boils at over 500 degrees centigrade and this is a temperature that cannot be reached from boiling water on the stove or in a kettle – therefore you will benefit from all that vitamin C!

Fir, Pine or Spruce Tree Powder

Take the dried needles and powder them in your blender. Store the final product in a mason jar. Use this powder to add a lemony taste (yes, there is a lemon-taste to these) to your cooking – fish, chicken, and even in some of your desserts! To make tea, use one teaspoon of powder per cup of boiling water and infuse twenty minutes.

Balsamic Vinegar

Fill a mason jar with (preferably) white pine needles. Douglas fir, balsam pine or spruce will work as well.  Fill the jar with apple cider vinegar and let infuse minimum six weeks in a dark location.  Strain and decant. (Important – do NOT use a metal lid from the mason jar as the vinegar can cause it to corrode. Use plastic wrap or a sandwich baggie to seal the jar.)

Pine Needle Syrup

Fill a mason jar with finely cut up organic lemon with the peel and pine needles.  Pour honey into the mason jar until the jar is filled.  Cover and let sit for 3 weeks.  Strain and decant.  This is am amazing syrup which can be used as a beverage, poured over ice cream and it tastes great. Some people use this as a cough syrup due to the healing power in honey and the high content of vitamin C in the pine needles.

Cedar

Take a fresh sprig of cedar and place it in your mug – add water and let infuse twenty minutes. Cedar can also be dried and powdered and stored to be used for tea.

Herbal Liniments:  EXTERNAL USE ONLY

Note: Rubbing alcohol is typically used to make liniments because it extracts the therapeutic herbal constituents, rapidly penetrates and evaporates from the skin.  I personally will not use rubbing alcohol because it is made from petroleum.  I use Everclear to get the same effect as rubbing alcohol.

You could also use Vodka, Witch Hazel Extract, or Vinegar as a solvent.  Basically, you’ll need a menstruum to extract the properties of the herbs which will absorb quickly and deeply to penetrate skin.  If alcohol alone is too harsh or drying on your skin, try mixing it with Witch Hazel Extract or Vinegar until you find a medium that works for you. -

Simple to make, herbal liniments are a great element for any home medicine cabinet!  They offer instant relief for pain, inflamed muscles, bruises, and sprains.

Depending on which botanicals are included, liniments can be used to disinfect cuts and wounds, and may benefit a variety of conditions including sore and inflamed muscles, joints, circulation problems, arthritis, rheumatism, sprains, strains, and bruises.

Muscle Liniment: (we made this in class)

In this liniment we are using cayenne and cinnamon as a warming herbs that will help increase circulation in the area affected.

The valerian root will work to relax the muscles.

The comfrey and calendula are soothing herbs that will help with healing bruises and injuries. This combination can also be helpful in easing the pain of arthritis.

1 ounce (weight) of comfrey root (NOT powder)

3/4 ounce valerian root (NOT powder)

1/2 ounce calendula flowers (NOT powder)

3/4 ounce cinnamon (powder)

1/4 teaspoon cayenne (powder)

1 quart  grain alcohol such as Everclear (available in liquor store in some states).

A quart jar

A strainer

Cheesecloth

A #4 coffee filter with filter holder (for straining out the ground herbs)

How to make;

Weigh out the appropriate amount of each herb and put them into a quart jar.

Pour  grain alcohol (preferred) over the herbs to fill the jar.

Stir to release any bubbles, and put a lid on the jar.

LABEL the jar.

Stir or shake once each day for two weeks.

Strain through cheese cloth, squeezing the herbs to extract as much liquid as possible.

Pour into new jar through coffee filter to get out any extra particulates.

LABEL the jar you are storing the liniment in.

How to store your liniments:

Store the liniment in a spray bottle or small jar in your medicine cabinet. Be sure to label the jar with the words: “For external use only.”

Dr. Kloss Liniment:

The Herbal Kloss Liniment is an extremely old but very strong remedy created by Dr. Kloss. Together with the revisions made by Rosemary Gladstar in her book Family Herbal, it is one of the most effective recipes for disinfecting wounds you could ever have on hand. However, this liniment is not only useful for disinfecting, it is highly beneficial in treating the following:

-all pains
-insect bites
-painful swellings
-bruises
-boils
-skin eruptions of any kind (i.e. pimples, eczema, etc.)

How to Make the Herbal Kloss Liniment

-1 ounce Echinacea powder
-1 ounce goldenseal root powder
-2 ounces myrrh gum powder
-1/2 ounce cayenne pepper powder
Everclear to cover, approximately 1 quart

Directions: In 1 quart glass jar combine all of the powders. Pour alcohol over herbal powders to fill jar, leaving 1-2 inch head space. Mix thoroughly. Place lid tightly on jar and let mixture stand in a warm and dark location.

Let jar stand for at least 4 weeks, shake well every day. After 4 weeks strain liniment well using a piece of cheesecloth and re bottle. Note: Be sure to clearly label For EXTERNAL USE ONLY.

Dosage: Apply the liniment every few minutes for an hour or two in acute instances. Otherwise, use freely until desired results are achieved.

Tips:

Re- bottle  liniment in 2-4 ounce spray bottle for ease of use.

- By applying the liniment to the temples, back of the neck, and to the forehead it can be used as an excellent remedy for a headache.

-Spray on to painful and swollen joints to relieve the symptoms of arthritis.

-Useful as a treatment for athlete’s foot. Apply frequently and saturate the affected area thoroughly.

-Treat a toothache or sores in the mouth by saturating a cotton ball with the liniment and then cleaning the mouth with the medicated swab. Focus on the area surrounding the toothache/mouth sore. Take extreme caution not to swallow the liniment; spit it out.

First Salve We Made:

Solomon Seal- for treating injuries to the musculoskeletal system. It is used  to treat broken bones, sprains, injured tendons and ligaments, tendonitis, arthritis, dryness in joints and "slipped"/herniated discs. Solomon's Seal has the remarkable ability to restore the proper tension to ligaments, regardless of whether they need to be tightened or loosened. This makes it a valuable remedy for sports & activity related injuries, used either before resorting to or along with conventional surgical procedures.

Birch Bark is a natural pain reliever containing salicylate, the compound found in aspirin.  Birch Bark relieves the inflammation and pain associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout and generalized muscle pain. Another reason birch calms arthritis and gout is it's cleansing diuretic action that eliminates toxins and excess water.

Comfrey Root - Rich in allantoin and mucilage, comfrey is highly valued for its soothing qualities and is a common ingredient in poultices, salves and ointments.  It facilitates and activates the healing of damaged tissue.  It is one of the best herbs for treating torn ligaments, strains, bruises, and any injury to the bones or joints.  Comfrey root and the leaf have similar properties; the root is stronger, but the leaf is more palatable.  use them both in salves and ointments.

Juniper Berries - The juniper berry has anti-inflammatory properties and it’s of great help to those suffering from arthritis, gout and other diseases such as rheumatism and pain in the joints and muscles. These joint related ailments occur because of the fluid retention around these joints, and the juniper berry with its diuretic action relieves this pressure considerably. Juniper also helps in reviving the muscle tone and significantly reducing the effects of ageing for most people.

Peppermint- Cooling, for swelling, inflammation, and areas that are hot due to sprains, bruises, and other injuries.

Your Health

This morning, while my daughter and I were working on our projects, we decided to  listen to Paul Chek.  He has a video series on coffee and espresso.  I strongly recommend you listen to this.

Click on link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCHeQs6nUFo

Before I was hit with my illness, I was extremely athletic and pushing my body beyond its limits.  I was a coffee junkie.  At the time of my coffee addiction, (which most  Americans have) I had a high level of stress going on from a divorce, I was cleaning peoples houses with toxic chemicals, moving pipe in a non-organic corn field, teaching spinning classes right after I cleaned a gym bathroom with bleach, comet and a plethora of other toxic chemicals, I did not eat organic, I lived off of so called nutritional bars (non-organic) during the day for snacks (soy, peanut) and non-organic high protein meat diet.  My veggie intake was the typical American diet, SAD.  The usual, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, potatoes and celery.   Most of these foods create inflammation, inflammation in the body will create cancer, fungus issues, low immunity, weak bones, lack of energy, etc.

I truly feel that the coffee,  I was drinking, was a big part of pushing my body deep into the illness I still carry today.  It was the last straw.    There was obviously more to what gave my body disease, but the coffee sped up what was happening to me.

We live in a toxic world, if you do not eat good, and you drink coffee, this is a combination to create disease in your body.  You health starts in the kitchen.  You body has a tank, that needs proper fuel to function at an optimal level.

There is not one person I know that is functioning at optimal health level.  This includes the children. I can think of  only a few, counting on one hand that are close to good health.

The generations that are growing up are going to be even more unhealthy, if we do not start teaching them NOW!

Many teens/children do not exercise or play enough.  All teens and young children should be playing hard and should be  exercising off and on throughout the day at lease 5 days a week.

So, besides the lack of movement, most teens are drinking  too much caffeine.  They should not drink it at all.  As a person who studies the  health of humans, big and small and the environment.  I can see right know the increase of diseases that we will face in the future. The numbers of cancer are going to be record high, obesity, diabetes, bone issues, nerve issues and women's health problems will increase ten fold.

I am sharing this video series, in the hope that you will pass it along, make changes in your life, your children and maybe even encourage your friends.

I would love the virus of great health to plague America.

In my opinion, Paul Chek is the  best in the  field of health.  You want to be healthy, live longer and be in top shape, Paul is the one to listen to.

According to a study by University of Kansas researchers, the more time you spend immersed in the great outdoors, the better your creative juices flow.  The study tested two groups of backpackers ranging in age from 18 to 60 plus.  The first group was given a standard test of creativity called the Remote Associates Test before embarking on a hike.  The second group took the test four days into a wilderness excursion, and they scored nearly 50 percent higher in creativity.  The effect was large and reliable.

Creativity appears to peak after about three days of leaving the beaten path.  When you have an extended period of time surrounded by that softly fascinating environment that you start seeing all kinds  of positive effects in how your mind works.

It is a combination of no technology and the great outdoors that give life to your mind, body and spirit.  Positivist energy is renewed, your adrenal gland rejuvenates itself, therefore it take you out of the stress zone.  When the mind body and spirit are taken out the stress zone, creativity flows

“It is far more important to know what person the disease has

than what disease the person has.”

Hippocrates

In my life I really try to live by a statement that Hypocrites made,

" Let food by thy medicine and medicine be thy food"

On that note, when I start my morning I think about what nutrients does my family need?  Is anyone needing something extra?  What illnesses are going around?  Have they been around sick people?  Has there been enough Sleep?  Enough exercise?  How has the water intake been?  Have we had enough veggies?   I ask these questions, because this is my health care, my insurance.

It seems to me with the health care system being so flawed, people would work on being healthy.  Instead of new junk food business going up, we should  see more gyms, ski highs, kung fu schools, roller skating rink,  more farmers markets, more organic farmers, etc, because we have all become so active that, that is where the money is being made.   If America was truly concerned about health, health care and insurance then we would see fast food joints close, video game businesses  close, people becoming more active, obesity rates down,  and a pluthara of other diseases  down. .

It shows in my own town how unhealthy we are.  Just count all the fast food restaurants, the coffee shops, the AM/PM, etc. this shows where the money is being made.  We are not an active town, we are a town that has a very high percent of obesity.

The so called health care system  has nothing to do with HEALTH.    The people in charge of naming it health care were brilliant.  If anything they have shown people the opposite of what true health is.   Now days most people do not even know what it feels like to be totally healthy.  Kids are taught at a very young age how NOT to be healthy. They are brought up on processed carbs, fruit, cheese slices, mac and cheese  and hot dogs. Parents are not taught how to raise their child starting at first foods and how to have them grow up with a wide palate.   They end up with picky eaters, due to this fact.  Plus, most adults do not eat good themselves, therefore the child learns from them.

What we have in America is  Sick Care.  Our costs of Sick Care are high and the corporations are getting richer by the minute due to our lack of knowledge to be healthy.  Brilliant plan, of a handful of now billionaires that started in 1847....

The Standard American Diet = SAD

13417442295?profile=original

There is no healing nutrients in the food pictured below.  All of this food feeds depression, anxiety, obesity, heart disease, cancer, gives low energy,  less brain power, sucks your immune system dry, gives diabetes, high blood pressure etc.  This is just a S.A.D

This food pictured below takes away from your life.

13417442496?profile=original

A few weeks ago Mr. Bronson and I took a back-packing trip.  This trip was to have a quiet place to think.  We sat high up on a view and came up with our own health plan.  What we need to implement in our life to stay healthy.   We set personal and health goals, these goals were set in the realm of mind, body and spirit.   Also, we worked out on a  wellness plan that I am excited to share once we get it solidified.

One of our goals was to make eating food at the Kung Fu School easier for Mr. Bronson.  Pouring a hot bowl of soup and trying to eat it in-between classes is not easy.  By the time he can eat it, it is too cold to eat.  Therefore it gets poured back into the crock pot and he tries again.  This does not make a night of successfully eating healthy if you can only get a few bites in for the night.   One of the health goals we set was to have food at the school that is easier to eat in sound bites.   I love hearing the stories of Mr. Bronson showing the kids what he is eating.  I hope it motivates them to keep trying new foods. The post's on face book about food must be working because I am getting requests for recipes. I have decided to try to put some of the recipes down right away with the picture.  I have had requests (for years) for me to put a cookbook together.  I am just not sure where to start, I just need to buck up and figure it out.

Pictured Below is one of our thinking spots.

13417443662?profile=original

Most of the meals you see Mr. Bronson eating, are made without recipes.   I will do my best to tell you what I did.

When it comes to greens and salads you really can't mess up. The first thing you need is some really good quality tasting green veggies.  I have some of these growing on my farm and then I go to the Saturday Market in our town at the Grange.  We have our CSA Share from Growing Wild farm and I also purchase more greens from Dennison's Farms

Here is a list of great veggies you can pick up at the Saturday Market in our town.  If you do not live in McMinnville, you can find a farmers market near you by clicking on this link:

If you want to build muscles, strengthen your heart and immune system, balance your blood sugar and have your body tuned-up, this the food it needs.

Do you have a "Wellness Plan"?

As much as you are concerned about not having insurance, shouldn't you hold that same concern for what you are eating and how much you exercise?

Most people do not want to take a job unless it has good insurance, shouldn't you carry that same thought/energy for staying healthy?

You say "NO" to jobs, if they do not  have good benefits, shouldn't' you say "NO" to food, that does not give nutrients, minerals, vitamins, life, and vitality?

Pneumonia is a serious disease and should be treated with the help of a holistic health professional. In addition, when treating pneumonia, care must be taken to ensure that complete recovery occurs. Even after symptoms abate, they can flare up again if not properly treated and monitored, so be sure to get adequate amounts of rest and maintain your treatment protocols for at least one to two weeks after your symptoms disappear.

Viral Pneumonia is different than Bacterial Pneumonia.   Bacterial Pneumonia for most people, they use antibiotics.   At this point you need to treat yourself according to your belief system.

Viral Pneumonia, is viral and you pretty much have to take care of yourself and wait it out.  No antibiotics are used because it is viral.

When one catches pneumonia the first thing you need to look at is improving your immune system. When you immune system is down, this is when disease hits.

Diet:  If you struggle with colds, flus. viruses or  If you suffer from pneumonia, you need to be screened for food allergies and sensitivities, and then avoid eating those foods that you are allergic or sensitive to. In addition, avoid all sugar and sugar products, including an excess of sweet fruits, wheat and wheat byproducts, soft drinks, commercially processed foods, and all foods containing artificial ingredients, such as additives, colorings, flavorings, and preservatives. Eliminate your intake of all milk and dairy products, as they contribute greatly to mucus in the body. In addition, avoid coffee and all other caffeinated products.

Support your local farmer, that put love and time into taking care of their animals

These days when you buy a Butterball, Safeway turkey, and any other non -organic brand from a big box store, you are getting toxic meat.  You are supporting big corporations.   These  turkey's live in their crap, had their beaks de-beaked, fed antibiotics and GMO grain.  They live in big pole barns crammed together.  There are so many in their big metal barns that  the ammonia smell, burns their eyes.  Many die of disease.  The ones that make it out alive to the processor end up on your kitchen table and they are full of chemical salts.

Then you have the brands that charge more, are supposedly free range, and no antibiotics.  Well they live in closed quarters and were fed GMO Grain.

Eating animals that eat GMO grain will eventually cause disease in you and your loved ones.

I don't know about you,but that sounds really gross.  Personally, if I can't get an organic turkey for the holidays then we end up eating a different kind of meat.

My daughter is selling turkeys that she raised.  They were fed organic feed, organic food from our gardens, organic fruit that we picked, bugs and seeds.  She is charging $6.50 a pound.

Sorry, No shipping is available.

My Morning On The Farm

Today feels like a gross day at the farm.   It started off with, having to separate two very in-heat  male goats, that can't seem to stop mating with the females.  If you know anything about bill goats, you know how disgusting this can be and dangerous.  Both the billy goats were fighting, they had urine and sperm all over them.   It has been raining and the ground was very slippery!   My husband wrestled one down, then lost it in the transition of taking it, to it's new spot.  My daughter was trying to catch one, I eventually caught the bigger male by the horns (with one hand) while I was standing up on a pallet.  I did this so my husband could get the female away from him.  Trying to hold onto big horns that are  slimmed with goat products was not easy.  I lost hold of him.  This farm activity was way harder then chasing a greased pig, not to mention dangerous.   We eventually got them put away into a lush spot and they are calming down.   The older goat found some wild lettuce to eat, which, I was thankful for,  wild lettuce is a calming herb.   To keep things mellow I am going to feed them some relaxing herbs.  I will also  add some hops to their feed, because hops can slow down their libidos.   After that it was time to take care of the little baby goat that had her face torn up by a coyote.  I won't even go into details about what we have to do for that.   You will notice in the picture she has half of her ear gone.   This goat is  a trooper and is doing really well.    She has several more weeks of recovery, before her wounds will be healed.   I think, we all came to a conclusion, that we were stuck smelling like the billy goats for a few hours, no matter how many times we scrubbed with soap...

Tomorrows adventures bring, taking the turkeys in to be processed....Life on the farm..

The Owl In The Oak - Silent Wisdom

There are many definitions of health.   Health is about taking care of your emotions, feelings of being sad, feelings of anger, learning to forgive and purging out what does not need to be in your heart  anymore.  It is about letting go, forgiving yourself, forgiving others and growing from your experiences. To know that we are all different and to accept those differences as long as they do not harm  or take away  freedoms.

This story is about a magical moment I had with my mom last Saturday November 2nd 2013.   When, I became very ill about 11 years ago, it took some time to figure out what was making me sick.   At that point the doctor and I also figured out, that, we were  98% positive my mom suffered from the same thing.   My medical situation also helped me find forgiveness in my heart for my mom.   Her medical issue was one of the big reason's she suffered mentally and physically for many years.

Had she listened to me about what to do with her health she would be alive today.  I am 99% sure of this.  But, because she did not listen, she became a lab rat with the western medical society, and they eventually killed her.  To many pharmaceuticals and a terrible diet, strained her brain and body. This western medicine protocol put  her on  her spiritual journey to early in her life.

Before, I share my magical experience, I want to give you a brief history of my life with my mom.   As a teen/young adult, I realized my mom was somewhat of a  "Mommy Dearest".   That term came to me from a movie I saw, that had Joan Crawford in it, as the leading actress.   I do not remember much quality time with my mom.  Then at one point  she was a single Mom, trying to pay the bills, which led to leaving us alone to much.   At the time it was the only choice she had.. She eventually married again.

For those of you who know me, you know that my mom and I had a terrible relationship.   It was like putting two magnets together in opposite position.   She was very controlling, manipulative, angry and at times very psychic.  My mom's physic abilities led her to think she was 100% right.   Something she never found balance with.  There were times later in my teenage life and adult life she would blame me for being sneaky or bad, and at those times she was very wrong.  My mom suffered with depression, she began habits of staying inside her house, curtains closed and did not have more than a handful of friends.

I always tried to work on forgiving my mom.  Sometimes it took months or even a year of silence between us before I could let go of the bad that she had created between us.    She had many terrible life experiences and I believe that is  what created  her very controlling personality.

Anything that I was interested in or wanted to do was never right for her.  This never changed for her.  Even at the age of 43, she was still disapproving of what I was doing in my life and how I was raising my kids.   I was a rebel, a nature lover, I stood outside a box and this was heartbreaking for her.

Last time, I saw my mom, I was 43.  I had flown down to the Bay Area to help her out.  She was in the hospital again.    She did not recognize my brother and I.    During this time, I had found out that, before she ended up in the hospital  she was trying to create problems in my life.  It was at that moment, I told myself I would help her out and then never allow her back in my life.  I was done.  I was 43, and she still could not accept me or what I did in my life.  However, I did decide to finish strong and help her until she was out of the hospital   I did not want any regrets.   I even stayed an extra week, she then, left the hospital to a temporary spot at a nursing home.  Her memory  came back and she was able recognize my brother and I.  There was  about a week or more  at the nursing home and then she would be sent home.

The last words from her that I remember.   My mom had only been at the nursing home for a few hours, her brain was waking up,  I had asked her if she needed anything, she told me what ever it was, and then finished her sentence by saying to me "Sue you are getting fat".   Yep, I was done..

I did it,  I stayed there, loved her, pushed her in the wheel chair, smiled at her, catered to her until I left for home.  I finished strong, I was exhausted from my own illness.  Being on planes, staying  at hospitals and nursing homes all day left me with three months  of recovery.

There are just some things in your life, no matter how much you love them, that you just have to let go.  It was time to let go of the abuse.

Several months passed and I had not talked to her since seeing her at the nursing home.  I received a call from my brother to tell me she had passed  away.  I am thankful that she was able to pass in the comfort of her own home.

It has been about 4 years  since she died.

Special note, besides forgiving it is important to remember the good  things:

I know my mom loved me, I know she thought she was doing her best, she loved animals more than anyone I know,  SHE LOVED OWLS, her favorite color was red,  she taught  me  the importance of good posture and buying good shoes.  I did have a brief two year period that she was a different person.  I will hold on to this period in my heart forever.    My mom also worked on a project for years, because she wanted to leave my brother and I with something.  She knew it would produce again someday, and I am very grateful for this.   Because of this we have new shoes.    Thank you, Mom

This past Saturday was November 2nd, I realized after being up for a few hours it was my mom's birthday.

The sequence of events that happened on this day, still choke me up, tears well up in my eyes and I get a lump in my throat.  It was a beautiful moment I will cherish forever in my heart.

My husband called  from our business, to let me know that I had received my special envelope from my moms project.   Wow, that was awesome.  Arrived on her birthday...

I had tea with my daughter and then headed up the mountain with my  dogs.  It was time for our exercise and I needed to clear my head of all the businesses.  As we were walking up, I was talking out loud, asking questions,   I was seeking advice from God, my inner voice, my intuition.

I was about half way up and I noticed something big fly from the tree in front of me onto an oak.  At first I thought it was a big hawk.   I walked slowly and quietly to where I could see it.  It was an Great Horned Owl.  At that moment I realized again, it was my Mom's birthday, and on her birthday  I received my special envelope and  I was eye to eye with a Great Horned Owl ( during daylight), which was  her favorite bird.

We looked into each others eye's, It was my mom, this magical moment was for both of us,  I cried,  and I could feel she would be gone in a few moments.  The silence between us was broken for the last time,  here was my opportunity to speak with her again.  I told her that I loved her and sorry it did not work  out between  us and to stay on the path for her next journey,. Seeing me was her map to stay on her path  for that next journey.   I wanted to hold on to this moment longer, but it was time for her to go.  The Great Horned Owl, jump higher up the oak.  When it turned  back to look at me she was gone.  The eyes had changed.  My inner voice, told me it was time to move on, head up the mountain and continue on my path.

I walked up the mountain choking back tears, and I could barely take a breath.

As I headed down I stopped to look up at the Oak, no Great Horned Owl.

This moment will be in my heart forever.  I feel so blessed to have had this magical experience between my mom's spirit and I.

It is important that we open our minds, bodies, hearts and spirit to listen, to listen to God, to your inner voice, to your intuition and to spirit.  Important messages come through in many ways,  things are there, but you don't see them or hear them, sometimes "there" is a brief whisper and if the noise is to loud around you, the message will slip by.   Your heart feels messages through seeing it with your own eyes, no words out loud, just silently being sent.

It is  important to turn screens off, TV off, cell phones off, to help your inner spirit grow.

The mystery of magic came to me with it's silent wisdom.  Wisdom, that I did not hear words but saw in the eyes.   Divine Timing of The Owl In The Oak Tree, gives a message to me, That message is, Oaks are reminders to draw up your strength and courage, walk through doors that open, and learn from the doors that shut.

I now have closure... I love you Mom...

Celebrating life, death and rebirth, tea with my daughter, in cups of red, in remembrance of my mom, celebrating her new spiritual journey and mine.

Today, can you think of anything that has been locked up inside your heart, that needs to be purged out?  You can eat all the organic food you can, to be healthy, but you also need to take care of the emotions that affect you negatively inside your heart.
